The Trial Of A Time Lord (1986) The Verdict

*sigh* They deserved 7 seasons.

There is no denying that The Trial Of A Time Lord is massively flawed, as any product is if it's being torn into different directions by everyone working on it. Colin Baker, John-Nathan Turner, Eric Saward, Michael Grade, Jonathan Powell, Robert Holmes and Pip and Jane Baker all had different ideas of what The Trial Of A Time Lord should be about, and as a result, it's a a story that's not really about anything. A conspiracy without reason, that infected perfectly fine stories, which cannot be revisited without acknowleding the arc's presence.

The Trial Of A Time Lord is GUILTY... for still being damn good in spite of these issues. It's a refreshing and fascinating break from formula, filled with plot twists, great humor and acted out by brilliant actors. Special kudos to Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant who made me sorely miss them in spite of my lukewarm feelings on them last season.
